Prithviraj was the first independent ruler of this lineage, whose title was Maharajadhiraja. Prithviraj first built a temple of Ashapurna Devi in Gujarat and took control of Bhadoch. After Prithviraj, Ajay Raj became the ruler. Ajay Raja established Ajmeru (Ajmer) town in 1113 AD and built it a new capital city. Ajayraj constructed the fort of Ajmer in the middle of the hills. Prithviraj Sisodia of Mewar named it Taragarh Fort in the 15th century. This fort is called Gibraltar of East. Arnoraj son of Ajayraj built Anasagar lake in 1137 AD
Vigrahraj IV (Bisaldev) (1153-1164 AD)
Apart from Prithvi Raj III, Vicharaja IV is the most powerful ruler of Chauhan dynasty. It defeated the Bhandan of Punjab and gave it away. This was a poet's heart ruler. It is also called poets. It has composed the play Harkeeli (drama) itself. In which Shiva-Parvati and Kumar Kartikey are described. Its court poet Narhati Nalh composed Bisaldev Raso Granth. Other poet Somdev composed Lalit Vigrahraj. Between 1153 and 1156, Vigrahraj constructed a Sanskrit school in Ajmer, which in 1200 AD, Kutubuddin Aibak tudavad and made a two-and-a-half day hut in his place.

Prithviraj III, the most powerful and famous ruler of Chauhan dynasty After the death of father Someshwar in 1178 AD, Prithviraj became the ruler of Ajmer. It was a young age. Therefore, his mother Karpuri Devi and Prime Minister Kamas took over the administration.
In 1182, after the loss of the youth, Prithviraj attacked the lord Pandarindidov of Chandel dynasty. In this war, two monks of Lord Pandava were received by Ala and Udal Viragati.

Between Prithviraj III and daughter Sanyogita, daughter of Jayachand Gadhwal, ruler of Kannauj, is famous in love affairs. Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti related to the famous Sufi saint and Chishti sect came to Ajmer during Prithviraj III. In Ajmer, his dargah was constructed by Razia's father Iltutmish.

Hamir Dev Chauhan, the last ruler of the Chauhan dynasty, fought 18 wars in his lifetime and won in 17.
